T-Manager is a Microsoft Excel-based terminology tool designed to automatically analyse, customise and manage terminology on the fly. T-Manager can also be used with terminology exported from third-party tools such as
WorldServer GMS and Systran Machine Translation (MT) dictionaries and glossaries.
To learn why Excel spreadsheets and macros can always be a useful resource for the purposes mentioned above, this article might be of interest.
MAIN FEATURES Latest version: 4.7 (Next version will be released around Christmas 2009) Next version is scheduled to be released sometime before the end of Sept 2008

- Generates a diagnosis on the status of the glossary.
-Compares two sets of aligned strings flagging each string pair as "Modified" or "Identical".

- Customises terminology to adapt it to different needs and formats (e.g. Systran Machine Translation dictionaries), based on tags and clues entered by the user.
- Removes "noise" from text (e.g. tags, linguistic clues, etc)
- Generates Systran user dictionary templates and populates them with terminology from a legacy glossary or dictionary.
-Populates an empty list of terms reusing translations and any other information available from a legacy glossary.
List & Frequency of unique terms
-Extracts and lists just a single instance (i.e. no duplicates) of all the entries in a given column, indicating their frequency.
Terminology
Filtering
-Enables terminology filtering based on results generated by any of the functions described above.
Reports & Metrics
-Generates graphical reports and metrics based on most of the functions described above (e.g. validation, diagnosis, comparisons).
TARGET USERS
Terminologists, translators, and language reviewers, as well as university lecturers, researchers, students and anybody involved in Translation. T-Manager will be particularly useful to users with a focus on controlled terminology for machine translation purposes.
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- Microsoft Excel 2003 or higher
- Pentium IV with 512 MB of RAM or higher
Unfortunately, some of the latest T-Manager's macros are not supported by Excel 97/2000. If you definitely need to run T-Manager in any of these versions of Excel, you may wish to try a much earlier and primitive version of T-Manager, available here.
