M.Sc, G.Dip, B.A
After getting fully qualified as an electrician, Rafael Guzmán Amo started a B.A (English) at the University of Seville (Spain), which he completed at the University of Limerick (Ireland) as an Erasmus student in 1998. He also completed a Grad.Dip. in Software Localisation at the same university in 1999.

From 1999 to 2005, Rafael worked in the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) as a research and teaching assistant in different areas of software localisation. During this time he also completed an M.Sc. in Dublin College University, sponsored by the LRC.

Rafael was involved in a number of related EU projects run by the LRC. He delivered several e-learning courses, and set up and coordinated the LRC Localisation Technology Laboratory and Showcase (LOTS), attracting the donation of a large number of software localisation tools from companies in the US, Europe, and Asia.

Rafael has been invited to give talks and courses on localisation tools in the US, Spain, and Ireland. He has also worked as a tutor (Dublin College University, Ireland) and Web master. He has been involved in the organisation of a number of international localisation conferences, seminars, and summer schools run by the LRC.

Rafael has written articles on localisation-related topics as well as localisation tools reviews in well-known publications, such as Multilingual Computing, Translation Journal, and Localisation Focus.

In 2005, Rafael joined Symantec Corporation, where he works since then as a project lead, senior language coordinator, terminologist, and researcher. He is the main linguist working on Spanish Machine Translation (MT) and terminology. His main research interests include automation techniques for both MT post-editing and terminology management.

Rafael is the developer of T-Manager Terminology Tool. Occasionally, he provides training in software localisation tools, via e-learning courses organised by Austin Community College (Austin, Texas).

Since 2006, Rafael has promoted and organised a Dublin Localisation Interest Group.
